Advanced empathy is the capacity to be aware of, understand, and be sensitive to another person’s feelings. With this capacity comes sharing thoughts with others about their experiences, behaviors, or feelings that can help them move beyond blind spots and develop the new perspectives they must have for breakthrough thinking to emerge. What’s in it for you? Proficiency in advanced empathy will enable you to: Help yourself and others to better understand and face their deeper feelings and difficulties, and take ownership of them. Learn that you can coach many people to develop new skills and overcome obstacles to professional development or personal growth. Become more effective as a leader with advanced emotional intelligence that makes working or living with someone more honest and authentic. Help yourself and others jump over minor issues and discover root cause issues that are connected to deeper feelings. Behavioral Indicators An individual proficient in advanced empathy: Observes and identifies deeper feelings in self and others so that more root cause issues can be clarified and addressed – (deeper feelings are often connected to more important problems or issues).
